Copyright

Any original work, such as literary or artistic work etc., is automatically protected by copyright in Norway, under the Norwegian Copyright Act of 1961.

As opposed to some other countries, there is no official register for copyright in Norway, no application form and no fees to pay. The Copyright in Norway is limited to 70 years after the creator’s death.

The exclusive right entails that the creator may prevent others from commercially using the copyright protected work. The extension of this exclusive right will depend on how original and new the work is.

Our lawyers have extensive experience with enforcing of copyrights, and may assist you in all conflicts relating to infringement of the copyright protected work, as well as providing you with strategic councelling on how to best preserve your rights.
